You may want to separate your Canvas gradebook in a number of ways. This will introduce you to a few methods.
In general, most of these actions are coming from the "View" option on gradebook
1) If you want to separate your gradebook by Semester, click on "Filter" --> "Grading Periods"
Selecting that filter should give you a dropdown option to view your gradebook by Semester 1 or 2
2) If you want to change the appearance of certain gradebook notifications, click on "Statuses"
From there, you can change the color of the notification in your gradebook for a certain assignment category, including adding new hex colors if you don't like the options.
