Screen recording with Quicktime

Your MacBook can record your screen into a .mov file (friendly for Canvas, easy to add to YouTube).  This is a great feature if you want to record anything from analyzing texts, showing how to solve a problem, or simply recording a powerpoint lecture.  Combine it with Edpuzzle (for example) and you have an engaging lecture!  Below are the steps to using Quicktime to screen record.

1) From your MacBook, click on the magnifying glass in the top right corner.  In the search box, search "Quicktime Player"

2) Once that happens, a small Q icon will appear at the bottom of your screen in the toolbar.  Push and hold the Control button (^) and click on that icon.  Select New Screen Recording

3) A row of options will appear.  Click the Record button on the end; it should give you a quick countdown, and then start recording your screen.

4). To stop the recording, click the small stop button at the top of your screen

After you hit that stop button, a file should be created.  You can save this file to your desktop/Finder, and then send that file anywhere.  Happy content creating!
